Water Mist Systems

• Cylinder System

Cylinder system operates similar to a gas extinguishing system. The cylinder system consists of two different types of cylinders, one type is filled with water at atmospheric pressure and the others with nitrogen pressurized to 200 bar, used as propellant.

The activation of a cylinder system is triggered by one master cylinder. This master cylinder will then activate all further slave cylinders.

In dry pipe deluge systems the activation is triggered by an electric signal from a separate detection system. The cylinder valve is a solenoid operated valve with manual override for safety reasons in case of electric failure. This opens the differential pressure valve to discharge the nitrogen into the slave cylinders.

In a wet pipe system a glass bulb triggers activation. The pressurised pipe system is connected to the cylinder valve on the master cylinder, which is a differential pressure valve. Activation is achieved by breaking a glass bulb located within the body of the nozzle. This causes the release of control pressure in the pressurised pipeline. This opens the differential pressure valve. The master cylinder will then activate different configurations of slave cylinder assemblies.

• Pump System

Pump systems operate at a pressure of 120 bar. The high pressure is utilized in two ways, to split the water into fine droplets and to create momentum for the droplets created. If a lower pressure is used, either the droplets generated would be bigger or the momentum of the droplets would not be sufficient.

The pump units are comprised of individual pump modules. Since uses pump modules with flow rates between 25 and 800 l/min, the total performance of a system can be optimally adapted to site requirements.

The use of large numbers of small pumps is avoided to minimize possible sources of failure. To reduce the number of moving parts to a minimum, there is one drive motor directly connected to each pump. No gearboxes are used.

Both electric and diesel motors are offered.

In a system, filters of different mesh sizes are used at different points so that a particularly high degree of reliability can be assured.

Section valves are available for dry and wet pipe networks, for dry pressurised and for pre-action areas. All valves can be supplied with testing devices.

For systems not activated via glass bulb, almost all fire detection systems can be used. control panels have state of the art PLC control equipment and can easily be connected to fire alarm systems. If required, operator guidance can be provided via touch screen. Remote-controlled maintenance via modem is optionally available.

The entire piping systems are made of stainless steel as required by international standards for water mist fire fighting equipment. Pipe diameters range from 10 to 40 mm. Layout and installations are carried out to conform to international standards.

• Nozzels
Special water mist nozzles are the heart of every  system. They are optimised for specific applications and have undergone extensive testing with independent testing houses such as Factory Mutual, to ensure their reliability.

Water mist nozzles are subjected to a 100 % quality test.

Open type nozzles are installed in dry pipe deluge systems. All nozzles of a group will be activated at the same time after the system has received a signal from a separate detection system.

The piping to automatic nozzles is normally water filled (wet) except in the case of freezing possibility, where piping may be pressurised by air (pre-action) from the section valve. The nozzle is equipped with a glass bulb which breaks when head is detected.

The modular nozzle design concept allows the use of both standard application nozzles and special applications nozzles for false floors, ceiling voids, zones with particularly high temperatures, areas exposed to the wind, etc.
